A Soft-reset - the process of resetting all the settings of the phone to the factory default! No applications are deleted! A Hard-reset is like formatting a drive! It does format the memory. Everything that has been installed after the first use of the phone is deleted! It will recover the memory of the phone to the state you purchased it! It is done by inputing the following code:*#7370# NOTE: The battery must be full or the charger has to be connected to the phone so that it does not run out of power andmake the phone unusable.

BlueJacking
First up, you need to know what Bluetooth is. There are lots of types of modern devices that incorporate Bluetooth as one of their many features. PDAs, mobile phones and laptops are a few of these modern devices. Bluetooth means that Bluetooth enabled devices can send things like phonebook/address book contacts, pictures & notes to other Bluetooth enabled devices wirelessly over a range of about 10 metres. So, we've got past the boring part. Now, using a phone with Bluetooth, you can create a phonebook contact and write a message, eg. 'Hello, you've been bluejacked', in the 'Name' field. Then you can search for other phones with Bluetooth and send that phonebook contact to them. On their phone, a message will popup saying "'Hello, you've been bluejacked' hasjust been received by Bluetooth" or something along those lines. For most 'victims' they will have no idea as to how the message appeared on their phone.
Check if the recepients phone is on Delivery reports
Type *0# your message in the message composer window space then write your message, the recipient will not see the star zero hash bit - just the message When they read it it will relay a message back to your fone showing the time they recieved it.
Operator logos
Use a filemanager like FExplorer or SeleQ to add the folders: "c:/system/Apps/phone/oplogo". Add a .bmp picture to folder "oplogo" and restart your phone! The .bmp picture size needs to be: 97 x 25 pixels

TO NGAGE USERS; Did u know u can install .sis files simply using the cable given? Juz plug it in, place the .sis file anywhere on e: (the mmc), not in any folders, root of e:, disconnect, then look for it in manager.

Just follow the simple steps to install the default cdma phone driver
1. Click on the start button and then click on the control panel option. In the control panel window click on the phone and modem options.
2. Now just follow the instructions on the wizard and install a new modem on the computer but be careful on the fact that youshould manually select the standard 33600 modem among the available default options. Do not let the computer to detect automatically plug and play modem.
3. After you are done with this you can install the modem on any available default COM port.
4. After you have installed the modem, right click on the icon and select the properties option. Then you need to configure the Extra Initialization command under the advanced menu options. Set the Extra Initialization command to AT+CRM=1.
5. To complete the whole process you need to create a new connection using the new connections wizard.
You can do this by accessing the wizard in the control panel window. I m putting up this post but let me inform you all that I have not tested this procedure. So all those who will try it out leave a comment for the benefit of the others.

In November 2004 certain websites provided transfer tools for mobile ringtones, pictures and videos for series 60 phones. Many users downloaded these softwares not knowing that the phones were getting affected by virus which was rather deadly, named Cabir,a worm. This when installed tries to send its own components to any bluetooth device in range. This Virus forces the battery life to shorten because the Bluetooth Cannot be switched off.
To prevent Cabir virus, keep Bluetooth profile 'Hidden', in case the cabir message file is received (caribe.sis), try aborting the installation, if the virus has entered the phone, install the following software in the phone www.f-secure.com/tools/f-cabir.sis which will then search and destroy the virus components.

Nokia 3230 software flaws
The problem of software with Nokia 3230 has become extremely common. Finally Nokia provided its customers with imaging.The users can create their own set of ringtones and video playback, in a mid-priced ranged Nokia 3230. It is reported that apart from having a slow and useless software the Nokia 3230 also hangs whilst scrolling. The phone restarts while using FM radios and other multimedia functions. These reports are not yet attended by Nokia. May be in next century the prolem will get solved....
Start spying
If you short-circuit the right, left and middle pins situated below your Nokia phone with all the pins connected, the Nokia software hangs. The profile Headset gets activated prior to which automatic answer in the headset profile needs to be activated along with the volume level set to mute. To spy, the phone can be kept in a room or somewhere else and the user gets to know whatothers in the room are talking about when he calls on the phone. The phone itself answers the call.....It does not possess any magical power though....

The 6230 introduced in the series 40 segment, before 6230i was in great demand for an year or two but as soon as 6230i came into the market the demand shifted on the otherside. The Nokia 6230 has an internal memory of 7Mb, consists of a 32 Mb MMC, is less attractive with a screen display of 128 x 128 pixels. On the contrary, the Nokia 6230i has an internal memory of 32 Mb, consists of a 64 Mb MMC, is a comparitively more attractive with a screen display of 208 x 208 pixels. .In order to swap the memory of two Nokia phones, but with memory cards wherein one phone has Reduced sized multimedia card(RS-MMC) compatibility and the other phone has Multimedia card (MMC) compatibility. There are 5 steps which will prove to be of great help. Follow the instructions below.

1. To activate the "Headset" menu, you need to short-circuit pins "3" and "4". After a short time the word "Headset" will be shown in the display. Menu 3-6 is now enabled.
2. To activate the "Car" menu, you need to short-circuit pins "4" and "5". After a short time the word "Car" will be shown in the display. Menu 3-7 is now enabled.
THE REBOOT TRICK
This should work on all software versions of the 6110.
1. Go to the Calendar (Menu-8)
2. Make a note or reminder.
3. Enter some text into the edit box.
4. Hold "Clear" until the whole text is cleared, then press "Back".
5. Press "0". The main screen will now be showing but a space appears on the screen. (you can't see it)
6. Enter 4 digits (e.g. 1234).
7. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to the left side of the numbers and the space (Down arrow twice).
8. Now enter 6 digits and press the call button.
Wait for a few seconds, the screen should start to flash and reboots. It should alsowork on other menus like the "Profiles" menu.
EFR CALL QUALITY
To activate EFR (Enhanced Full Rate) Enter the code-

Before you do this just activate the "Automatic Answer" in the headset profile and set the ringing volume to "Mute". Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room. Just place it under a table in a room and call it. The phone receives the call without ringing and you can listen to what people are saying.

There is a hidden menu inside your Nokia phone. If you want to activate it, you'll have to re-program some chips inside of your phone.
1.Check your software version. You can only continue if you have v4.33, v4.73 or v5.24.
2.Take apart the phone.
3.De-solder the EEPROM (ATMEL AT 24C64).
4.Read out the data with an EEPROM programmer and save it to a file (Backup).
5.If you have v.33 or v4.73, change the address "03B8" from "00" to "FF".
6.If you have v5.24 then change the address "0378" from "00" to "FF".
7.Write the new data to the EEPROM and solder it back to the phone,
8.Power on your phone and you should have "Netmonitor" enabled.

CHECK SIM-LOCK
Note - If you bought your Nokia on UK Vodafone or UK Cellnet you do not need to check this because they both transmit on GSM900,and they don't lock the phones. However if you bought your phone on UK Orange or UK One2one your phone may be blocked. The reason is that they both transmitt on GSM1800. To make a call on GSM1800 you need what is known as a "Dual band" phone. A dual band phone is able to transmit on both GSM900 and GSM1800, so they lock the phones so you can't use it with any other network simcard. If you find that your phone is locked you can try different software to unlock it. (we havn't found one that works yet), or you can ask your service provider who will gladly exchange the 10 digit code for about GBP35.
This is how to check the status of the 4 different locks. Aslo don't try entering the wrong number, because after 3 times it will block the phone for good.

A dual band phone is able to transmit on both GSM900 and GSM1800, so they lock the phones so you can't use it with any other network simcard. If you find that your phone is locked you can try different software to unlock it. (we havn't found one that works yet), or you can ask your service provider who will gladly exchange the 10 digit code for about GBP35.
This is how to check the status of the 4 different locks. Aslo don't try entering the wrong number, because after 3 times it will block the phone for good.
There are 4 different locks on your Nokia phone.

The master code is a secret code. The code has 10 digits, To read out the sim-lock status you can enter every combination you want!
